VAAGLAND BATBYGGERI AS was founded in 1927 in Halsa, about 130 km (80 miles) south west of Trondheim i Norway. Up to 1962, the yard had built 63 wooden vessels. Since then, the yard has delivered over 70 steel vessels of various types.
We have always specialised in building fishing vessels. Purse seiners, trawlers, long liners, gill-netters and coastal fishing vessels varying in size from 15 to 80 m (50 to 260 feet) have been delivered to customers in Norway and other countries, such as Faeroe Island, Iceland, UK and Mexico.
We have also had the pleasure of building specialized vessels of different types, e.g. cargo carriers, reefer-/containervessels up to 80 meters, live fish carriers, ferries and service and working vessels. Our production also embraces building hulls and sections. Despite the wide varity of our products, they all have one thing in common: the «Vaagland» sign.
Today, VAAGLAND BÅTBYGGERI AS is a modern and efficient yard for the indoor construction of vessel up to 80 metres in length. Production is based on a system which allows short transportation and efficient utilisation of working hours. The dry dock, 85 x 17 x 7 metres, is covered of a hall measuring 100 x 24 metres and has a crane capacity of 82 tonnes. Connected to the building hall is a section hall of 1080 m2 and outfitting workshop of 1780 m2. The outfitting quay is 50 metres long with crane capacity of 18 tonnes.
All building, outfitting and paint work is done indoors, thus securing the best possible quality and finish. Out docking takes place shortly before delivery, at which stage the vessel are almost complet. This, together with efficient administration and our core working staff of 40 highly skilled employees, helps to ensure the quality demanded in modern shipbuilding.
